My gearbox has a problem with going into 4th. with OD off it drives fine. but when I switch the OD on the car starts to die and wont drive properly til I take off OD.

From what I've read I think its the solenoids playing up.
The oil level is ok as I've just changed the oil.

Could it be anything else????

90% of the gearbox's playing up by not going into over drive is dry solder in the tranny ecu, try and borrow one to confirm.

the kzn130 has 1 ecu that controls the engine and tranny, the 2lt-e has 2 ecu's from memory and the tranny one is located behing left front passenger kick panel

LN130 TCM (transmission control module) is on the drivers side under the fuse box. Check for dry joints and bulging/leaking capacitors, re-solder the joints as required and replace the capacitors, Jaycar have a good range, be sure to use the same value. This is also a good excuse to give the trans a service

It wasn't the computer. Turns out the gear box is rooted.

I bought another one fairly cheap and it works ok.
Might change over to 5 speed or get the auto rebuilt soon.

Keep it auto. Lots of hassles changing over with the ecu
